Monday Menu

After a brief hiatus...I am back (and ready to get on track!) ;-) The last of the pumpkin pie is gone from the fridge...that thing was my kryptonite! Good riddance. Here's this week's {simple} dinner lineup.

Monday : Brinner, in the form of scrambled eggs & sausage. Gotta love breakfast for dinner. We usually have it about once a week. It's one of Joel's favorites.

Tuesday : Cheeseburger Pie  I like to do mine in the crockpot. As long as I have it in by about 2:30 in the afternoon, it will be good to go by 6! Just be sure to grease the crockpot first...I use coconut oil for that. And bacon bits or some freshly chopped bacon make this Cheeseburger Pie so much better! In my humble opinion. :)

Wednesday : Easy, Low Carb Pan Pizza

Thursday : Mrs. Criddles Sour Cream Beef Enchilada Casserole Oh, we really love this! Filling and so satisfying.

Friday : Dinner out. :) And yes, it is possible to eat Trim Healthy Mama healthy...even out to dinner. Jennifer Griffin posted about this on her blog, good info!!

I have so many things to be thankful for, this Season. We put up our tree last night and got our first "real snow" of the year today. But along with all of the Holiday cheer, I want to try and be careful and not let my weekend of indulgences (with 3 tasty family events in 3 days) last until New Year's. :) Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Weekly Weigh-In

I meant to post last week that I was 2 pounds down in 2 weeks. I don't lose quickly!! But, thankful for progress. This weekend had too many cheats with various fun family events, so I am motivated this Monday to get back on track! I will have a THM peanut butter shake and salad for lunch.

This recipe is a keeper! My Six Fix blog posted a delicious No Bake Pumpkin Bites recipe that makes for a great breakfast if you are the type that likes donut holes! And if you aren't the type to enjoy donuts? I'm sorry, we can't be friends. Kidding. ;) These snack bites were great with greek yogurt, sprinkled with some erythritol and cinnamon. And so good with coffee!

Recipe Roundup

I've been wanting to try Bagel Dogs for a long time now. The kids love crescent rolls, wrapped around hotdogs and baked in the oven. I haven't done that for a long time. Bagel Dogs for supper last night were a success! I don't know why I let this easy recipe intimidate me. :) Hand-rolling them was a bit messy, but simple if you keep your hands wet. Next time, I will double the recipe. I also want to try rolling the dough out as a pizza crust. The ladies on the Trim Healthy Mama Facebook page use this "dough" for many things...including actual bagels! With that, you can have a sausage/egg/breakfast "S" sandwich...yum.

Supper last night : Bagel Dogs, paired with a side salad. The "dip" is a honey mustard...
mayo, mixed with mustard and a "doonk" of Stevia Extract powder.

Also, we love to get icecream after church on Wednesday nights. Last night, we just came home instead. I had an "on-plan" brownie with 0% greek yogurt and a handful of cashews instead. Small victory, right? What recipes are you enjoying this week?

Healthy Habits

Hello friends! This little blog "hatched" because a dear friend and I were talking today, and thought it would be good to have a place where we could connect and encourage each other in our healthy eating endeavors. A place to share tips for natural products or things we discover to help us along the way. We want to cheer each other on, and hold ourselves accountable in the process! And since "Just Between Friends" was taken...I struggled to find a suitable blog name. And then I landed on Comrade Connection. Welcome!!

My friend that helped me decide to start this blog has been doing the Trim Healthy Mama plan very successfully. She not only lost a bunch of weight...about 30 pounds, in a matter of months! But is now pregnant! :) Very exciting. She also struggles with Hashimotos Disease and has seen her thyroid health improve, with cutting out sugar. In my own journey of Trim Healthy Mama, I lost 28 pounds initially. Then, I just kind of stopped losing! I gain a few pounds. Then lose the same few. It seems to be a cycle. So, I know that committing to stay the course and stick to "the plan" will help me immensely. It seems that in my case, I had a sluggish thyroid?? Or hormone issues? I have been on an essential oil to help balance my hormones, and this past month I have been on a cleanse and probiotic through Plexus. My Mother-in-Law is an Ambassador, and so I wanted to try it. Basically, wanting to get healthy and motivated to eat better. Live healthier. And feel better. Who's with me??

I just had to share some yummy muffins I made yesterday. I don't always love the texture of almond flour alone in baked goods...or coconut flour. But these pumpkin muffins! They are pretty dreamy. I used the THM Baking Blend in place of the almond flour in this recipe. My kids even liked them...victory!! Click here for the recipe from Darcie's Dishes. And here's a photo of my breakfast. You can eat 2 (filling muffins) as part of a THM "S" meal. Or pair one with some 0% greek yogurt and berries! I chose to eat 2, warmed a bit in the microwave...with a bit of butter and a drizzle of xylitol sweetened syrup. I like the Joseph's brand. A little goes a long ways, so the bottle lasts!! I also used half-n-half in my coffee. And 1 packet of Truvia with a few drops of vanilla flavored liquid stevia to sweeten it a bit. Ok, enough of that...the photo!!

Obviously, I am not a professional food photographer. ;)
What ideas do you have for this blog? Thinking healthy THM recipes that you enjoyed, essential oils that you have used and loved, natural remedies, and perhaps a Weekly Weigh-In?? Don't worry, we don't have to post numbers!! :) But I thought it would be fun to do a progress check on Fridays. Hoping to update this blog 4 times a week. Daily just isn't going to happen. :) Keeping it real. Let's do this!
